More Communities Qualify For C Spire's 1 Gbps in Mississippi -

September of last year wireless operator C Spire issued a rather surprising announcement saying they were going to start deploying fixed-line broadband networks capable of 1 Gbps in several markets within their (mostly Southern) footprint. C Spire’s initial focus will primarily be on Mississippi, where nine cities are currently in the running to be the first to get the speedier service.

Like Google Fiber, deployment is supposedly based on interest, and Ridgeland, Batesville, Clinton, Corinth, Horn Lake, McComb, Quitman, Ridgeland and Starkville Mississippi have all battled for deployment. A second area in Starkville saw enough interest this week to qualify it for build out.

According to C Spire, once built the symmetrical 1 Gbps broadband service will cost $80 a month. Home phone and broadband will cost $100 a month, TV and broadband will cost $140 a month, and a full triple play will cost users $160 a month for the entire package.

Wireless customers will get $10 off all of these prices for bundling wireless service.
