AT&T Looks to Europe to Get Even Larger – Eyeing Overseas Acquisition Before Year’s End

44712

AT&T has historically focused on acquisitions and growth before all else, and is now unsurprisingly extending those ambitions into Europe. According to the Wall Street Journal, the phone giant is now studying potential acquisition targets in Europe, and a deal is expected to be announced before the end of the year. AT&T’s growth is constrained in the States, where the company has no interest in expanding its fixed line broadband services, and the stunning growth [...]

The deal comes courtesy of Sprint’s own acquisition by SoftBank, which brings a significant infusion of cash to the previously-unstable third ranked [...]

Sprint’s acquisition by Japanese carrier SoftBank is expected to fill the company’s coffers, allowing them to finally acquire Clearwire and the company’s massive spectrum holdings — something most saw as the inevitable outcome. 87299

Insisting that MetroPCS and T-Mobile are “cheating shareholders” through a “drastically undervalued” deal, MetroPCS investors have filed suit to block the deal. The deal would give Deutsche Telekom a 74% stake in the combined company, and involves a 1-for-2 reverse stock split and a $1.5 billion cash payment to shareholders at $4.09 per share. The deal also involves shutting down the MetroPCS network, and migrating users slowly over to the eventual T-Mobile LTE network. However, [...]
